THE RACKET : LIST 25 - Split Speed
This playlist makes me think of transportation.
Of waiting on a train platform or in the sterile waiting area of an airport as people politely speak into microphones about destinations and arrival times. The feeling of seeing a light way off in the distance and knowing you are about go somewhere. A door opening, the blast of cool, stale air pushing back your hair, the tinge of nerves as you look for a seat or a handhold or just a place to saddle step into the standing position.
And then you’re settled and the wheels start turning and you brace yourself so as whatever it is you’ve found yourself in or on lurches forward. Your stomach might sink or your eyes might blur or you sweaty palm might clench a little tighter to whatever it is you’re holding on to.
Maybe you come out of a tunnel or rise above the ground and split the current or whatever, but you are moving and the world is creeping by and you are sitting still and it feels, just for a moment, like you exist between two worlds. And it is, just for a moment, exhilarating.
