THE RACKET : LIST 30 - Eye Openers
When I’m making playlists I always think of the first song in two ways: one, a sneakily cinematic atmosphere builder that slips into your ears and sets the mood for what’s to come. Or, it’s a sonic punch to the head–something loud or brash or mildly (and enjoyably) alarming that pulls your eyes open and tells you why you’re here.
For LIST 30, I went for a two barreled wake-up call, two songs one after the other with just enough oomph to make sure you’re listening. I’m a person who enjoys contrast as a means of narrative, so it’s rare that I double up on, well, anything, but somewhere deep in the murk of me, I needed a one-two combo of eye openers.
Don’t worry (I know you do), the list dips down into slow and weird in and a little bit Euro in the middle bits before swooping back up into something akin to nostalgia.
