THE RACKET : LIST 35 - LINES OF WEIRD

This one’s a sci-fi joint. Not in the aliens and unidentified flying objects and creepy crawlies cooked up in labs type of way, though I could see that coming in the future. This is a spaceship in the moments before orbit. The astronauts staring upwards at the sky they’re about to cut through. And then the rocket goes and everything gets real gravitational and then you’re moving, moving, moving slicing through the great beyond on a wave of funk and soul and driving beats. But it’s not long before you break the atmosphere and you’re out in the cold, empty void of space, crossing the lines of weird, the static calls of other generations bouncing between your headphones. You look back at your co-pilot because shit is weird and you’re starting to mouth, “What happens now?” and then the power cuts from the engines and the front of the ship blows off and your shuttle is just floating out in the darkness of space. And maybe it’s just for a minute. Or maybe it’s forever.
