THE RACKET : PLAYLIST 44 - A good year.

It’s a new year. And here, for you freshly reborn sonic traveler, are some new tunes.

A few thoughts:

  1. Kikagaku Moyo’s Monaka is like a small, wriggly, super-trippy, ear worm. Even for those unversed in the sprawling cosmos of psych-rock, don’t fret–it’ll get you.

  2. Drugdealer’s new album feels as if your headphones are less tools of music listening, and more dimensional vortexes pulling you into a deep, leathery, mid-70s weed sesh. Very buttery. Very saxophone-y.

  3. Remember when Luca Guadagnino made Call Me By Your Name and everyone with any taste was immediately reminded that The Psychedelic Furs were, at least for a few songs, pop-gods? In Bones & All–his new, cannibalistic love story–he does it again with New Order’s “Your Silent Face”. Not that anyone needed to be reminded that New Order rules, but this poppy instrumental joint played in the perfect moment, definitely lets you know.

Give it a listen. It’ll do you good.
