The Racket Presents : GREYHOUND STORIES - Submissions Are Open!
Hello.
We're doing a new thing and we thought you might want to know.
In the past we've always curated our events, picking the readers we feel best suited towards a certain theme. In an effort to evolve, to branch out and to try new things, our May 6th reading will be our first submission-based event.
The evening - a collaboration with jack-of-all-trades Gark Mavigan - will be:
The Racket + Gark Mavigan Present : GREYHOUND STORIES
In past lives we spent a good deal of time traveling on Greyhound buses, eating pre-wrapped ham sandwiches in seedy stations at odd hours, drinking small bottles of whiskey in the dark of night with total strangers. They have been good times and they have been bad times, but they have always been interesting times.
What we're looking for is your tales of cross-country travels on Greyhound buses (or Megabuses or Bolt buses, or whatever long distance coach you're particular to). Your stories of strangers in the dark, of those moments in the limbo of night when the world is creeping by outside your window and a new world is blossoming within.
Submissions are open until Wednesday, April 1st.
If your piece is selected, you need to be available to read May 6th, 2020.
Submission Guidelines:
1. All types of writing accepted. Prose, poetry, non-fiction, fiction, etc.
2. Each reader gets no more than 7 minutes of reading time. Submitted pieces should be no longer than 1,000 words.
3. Feel free to submit multiple attachments, but combined they shouldn't exceed 1,000 words.
4. By submitting, you’re saying you are free to read Wednesday, May 6th, 2020 @ 7PM.
5. Do not put your name anywhere on the actual submission.
6. There's a chance we might do some sort of publication of your piece. If it's been published elsewhere (congrats!), let us know so we can give credit.
7. Send submissions to theracketreadingseries@gmail.com. The subject should be GREYHOUND STORIES.
