POETRY : Jupiter Time / Creative Growth / Read by Todd Blair
We had the great honor of doing a full issue of The Racket Journal with Oakland-based non-profit Creative Growth (you can find that HERE). They were kind enough to send along a reading of the poem “Jupiter Time” (featured in the journal) read by one of Creative Growth’s artists, Todd Blair.
We love this piece of writing, so much so we kicked off the whole damn issue with it. Todd’s reading captures the enthusiasm, wonder and joy of the piece so beautifully.
The poem is featured in the new collection by Creative Growth–The Poem is Telling Me I Remember (edited by Lorraine Lupo)–which you can, and should, buy HERE.
Give it a listen. It’ll do you good.

It’s Friday! It’s Friday!
Rainbows and stars
Moving stars
Moving sparkles
Like a move around
A cloud that moves around for awhile
Then the stars go back to their sections
And when the storm clouds break away
And the sun shines through
The different colors
Like Jupiter
In different colors
Like purple rain
And turquoise green like Jupiter
It’s Friday
Like Jupiter time
