POETRY : UNTITLED by Sarah Heady
Sarah Heady’s new collection from Spuyten Duyvil is a full-on gorgeous experience. Pulling from rural women’s magazines of the 1920s, Heady crafts poem after poem of intricately woven language that echoes not only the solitude of women and their experience, but the small routines they shared to try and find some form of solace. Heady recorded the below poem, from the collections first section “: sunup :” and we are extremely excited to share it.

multiples of ten, how i loved the way we galloped :
but i fell asleep in fields macadam-black, their sweating gutters : still
we prospered. i sent my sister an endless knot :
it got lost in the mail : too infinite for the system
