THE RACKET : LIST 32 - Downward Smiles

I am not a person who loves anything overly cheery. I’m not a fan of chipper. Perky doesn’t do much for me. It isn’t that I’m unhappy or opposed to positive energy, I just cringe a bit when it’s earnestly projected into the universe.

Strangely, when it comes to my sonic diet, I’m inverted. I appreciate upbeat melancholy. Darkness wrapped in a thin veneer of bounce. I want to brood on the inside, but shuffle my feet to the world. Throw a smile to the world with sadness leaking from the edges.

Maybe it’s a protective measure. Maybe I want to cover the void with tacky party paper, wrap the tears in a disco glitter.
