THE RACKET : LIST 9 - The River Gets Weird

I've spent the last two weekends river-living it up in Northern California. For those of you who've never had the joy of spending a weekend ankle deep in lukewarm water, ice tea in hand, pondering the deep questions like "what should we grill tonight?" - it isn't exactly a speedy style of existence.

Yet river living and river life are two very different ways of existing. Where river living involves leisurely afternoons throwing a tennis ball for a dog, river life often times cowers, half-cranked and full-sinister, in and amongst the bucolic setting, a rarely settled part of the landscape. 

The occasional overlap of these two worlds is where LIST 9 derives. A serene wash of guitars paired with a back-alley bass line; the croon of vaudeville pushed through the filter of Lou Reed; the structure of an oldie translated back by a computer program.

The river gets weird and I'm hoping so does this playlist.
